About SoCalYFC
What Does SoCalYFC Do?
SoCal YFC builds 4 things:
Why is YFC’s work important?
Right now, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among young Americans ages 11-24.
Far too many kids have no hope. SoCal YFC brings hope to kids through its events and in mobilizing Christian young people to befriend & serve their peers for Jesus’ sake.
How many kids does SoCal YFC affect each year?
Last year, SoCal YFC worked with over 6,500 kids, training over 1,100 student leaders from 350 different schools to make a positive difference in the lives of their friends and their campus.
What is the purpose of the Run-Walk For Youth?
The Run For Youth raises about 10% of SoCal YFC’s annual budget each year. The funds mainly support SoCal YFC’s young leader training, camping, and campus club programs. SoCal YFC is a nonprofit organization, so all gifts are tax deductible.
About Getting Pledges
Who should I approach for a YFC Run Pledge?
Family & friends are the best bet to begin asking, then go to coworkers, peers at school and people in the neighborhood.
How can I ask someone for a pledge?
Have a pledge form with you and tell your friend that you’re running or walking at SoCal YFC’s Run For Youth on November 9. You also can go on Facebook, Twitter, etc to ask for online pledges. If you are registered online to raise Run pledges, and they want to think about it, you can tell them to go to yfcrun.com and look up your name.
What do I say when I ask for a pledge?
Hi, I’m raising money for SoCal YFC. My goal is to raise $ _______. SoCal YFC is a Christian nonprofit that is focused on working with kids from ages 11-19.
SoCal YFC builds:
- Student-led Campus Bible clubs,
- Church Youthworker Networks,
- Student Leader training events and
- Specially Focused Programs like TLC Teen Moms & Dads & youth camping, etc.
Can you help us with a pledge of $25 or more?
- You can ask for more if you like…people usually give what you suggest!
What do I say when asking my non-Christian friends for a pledge?

How could I possible raise $400? or $800?
PRAY…first of all…then make a list of people to ask. After that, it’s simple math…for example:
- if you can get 16 people at $25 each you can raise $400 (you get a $50 gift card).
- if you get 16 people at $50 or more each, you can raise $800 (you get a $100 gift card).
START EARLY…November 11 is not that far off!
How could I use my social media accounts to raise run pledges?
- Register & build your own “Run For Youth webpage” on the yfcrun.com website.
- It’s very easy to do and shouldn’t take a lot of time.
- From that page you can link to your Facebook feed, etc.
- You can also copy the link on FB or Instagram, etc. for people to come and support you.
The Day of the Run-Walk
I am not athletic, do I have to run?
