Al Siebert

Executive Director

What do you do with YFC?
I am executive director (whatever that means). I get to connect with Jesus, with people and what Jesus is doing all over the Southland. How fun is that?

Why are you passionate about what you do?
I am passionate about my work with Jesus in YFC because He does it…I just stay connected to Him. I get to do things like mentor & disciple students, YFC staff, church youthworkers…and whoever I can find. When kids come to Jesus…or bring their friends to Jesus…or begin to hear the Voice of Jesus in scripture and through his Holy Spirit…I come alive! This is way too much fun…except for raising funds…but then Jesus has always ended up doing that too!

Tell me a bit about your family:
My wife Johanna & I have been married for almost 38 years. We recently made a pact to stay married for at least another 42 years…so we can celebrate our 70th together. I hope Jesus blesses us this way!

Our two daughters, Sarah & Charity are amazing young women! Both our daughters have M.A.’s in Education. We are SO blessed by them & proud of what they have accomplished in every possible way! Sarah is married to Chad and they have two awesome daughters (Hope who is 6 & Naomi who is 2). Sarah also writes an awesome daily blog entitled “the best days of my life.” Sarah is an amazing mother, wife to Chad and daughter to us. Her life in Christ runs very deep.

Sarah’s husband, Chad, is an amazing worship leader, has a strong heart for Jesus…and is owner of a small IT company that services small to medium sized businesses. He is an amazing dad, husband to Sarah & a much-loved “son” to us!

Charity is married to Thomas and is mother to our newest grandgirl River…who is a joy to be with. Charity teaches Math in middle school in Irvine to special education kids. She is also an amazing artist who loves Jesus deeply. Her husband, Thomas, is a gifted digital artist working for a great video game company…and more importantly is an awesome husband and father.

What would people be surprised to know about you?
I played football my senior year at Lakewood HS, graduated in 1966, but never had a senior picture taken…nor was my face in the team picture, since I was gone the day they took pictures. I was also told that there was a fire that took out the records of my graduating class among others. So I was a “stealth” football player, student & graduate of Lakewood HS.

What is your favorite thing to do?
Journal, be with my family, run (jog) and read good books.

What is your current favorite passage of Scripture?
My life verse is Philippians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain!” My favorite passages are Romans 8; John 1; John 15-17; Luke 22-23, 2 Cor. 5, and Isaiah 42.

What’s in your CD player right now?
Anything by Chris Tomlin…or Les Miserables.
