Al Siebert – Executive Director
What do you do with YFC? I am executive director (whatever that means). I get to connect with Jesus, with people and what Jesus is doing all over the Southland. How fun is that?
Why are you passionate about what you do? I am passionate about my work with Jesus in YFC because He does it…I just stay connected to Him. I get to do things like mentor & disciple students, YFC staff, church youthworkers…and whoever I can find. When kids come to Jesus…or bring their friends to Jesus…or begin to hear the Voice of Jesus in scripture and through his Holy Spirit…I come alive! This is way too much fun…except for raising funds…but then Jesus has always ended up doing that too!
Tell me a bit about your family: My wife Johanna & I have been married for almost 38 years. We recently made a pact to stay married for at least another 42 years…so we can celebrate our 70th together. I hope Jesus blesses us this way!
Our two daughters, Sarah & Charity are amazing young women! Both our daughters have M.A.’s in Education. We are SO blessed by them & proud of what they have accomplished in every possible way! Sarah is married to Chad and they have two awesome daughters (Hope who is 6 & Naomi who is 2). Sarah also writes an awesome daily blog entitled “the best days of my life.” Sarah is an amazing mother, wife to Chad and daughter to us. Her life in Christ runs very deep.
Sarah’s husband, Chad, is an amazing worship leader, has a strong heart for Jesus…and is owner of a small IT company that services small to medium sized businesses. He is an amazing dad, husband to Sarah & a much-loved “son” to us!
Charity is single and mother to our grand-dog “Buckley” who is a rescued greyhound. Charity teaches Math in middle school in Irvine to special education kids. She is also an amazing artist who loves Jesus deeply.
What would people be surprised to know about you? I played football my senior year at Lakewood HS, graduated in 1966, but never had a senior picture taken…nor was my face in the team picture, since I was gone the day they took pictures. I was also told that there was a fire that took out the records of my graduating class among others. So I was a “stealth” football player, student & graduate of Lakewood HS .
What is your favorite thing to do? Journal, be with my family, run (jog) and read good books.
What is your current favorite passage of Scripture? My life verse is Philippians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain!” My favorite passages are Romans 8; John 1; John 15-17; Luke 22-23, 2 Cor. 5, and Isaiah 42.
What’s in your CD player right now? Anything by Chris Tomlin…or Les Miserables.
Tara Posen – South Orange County Campus Ministry
What do you do with YFC? I do campus ministry in South Orange County (Irvine/Tustin).
Why are you passionate about what you do? I entered youth ministry at 18 years old because I felt very strongly that if every teenager had an older sibling who modeled what it meant to follow Jesus and love others, that the teenagers in this world would be drastically different. I am passionate about being in relationship with high school students, letting them see my brokenness, need for Jesus, and my desire to grow in loving Him and others so that they might in turn desire to love Jesus and their friends even more.
Tell me a bit about your family: I love my family to pieces. My dad, John, and mom, Christine, have always been an encouragement to me. I am proud of my sisters, Lauren, 25, (a 3rd grade teacher in downtown Long Beach) and Brooke, 18, (a pre-nursing student at CSULB). My mom and sisters are my best friends and we thoroughly enjoy picking on each other and laughing so hard it hurts. :)
What is your favorite thing to do? I enjoy creativity in any capacity…whether writing, photography, music, art, being outside, etc.
What is your current favorite passage of Scripture? Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about Ephesians 5:2 (MSG) - “Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.” I want to love people extravagantly, without holding back, without expecting anything in return…like Jesus.
What’s in your CD player right now? I’m a music junkie and am never listening to just one thing. But lately, I’ve been listening a lot to a band called Mates of State and their fun new release called “Rearrange Us.”
Kevin Bussema – Resource Development and South Orange County Campus Ministry
Why are you passionate about what you do? It’s great to see students have a light-bulb go off and realize that Jesus is real and tangibly wants to join their life via brokenness, vulnerability and community.
Tell me a bit about your family: I grew up in a small country town called Richland located in the wooded western part of Michigan. My family is the typical nuclear family (2 parents, my sister and her husband, plus myself). When you get to know us – you find out pretty quickly that we are anything but typical. My Dad would eat ice cream every night if my mom let him; my Mom says she doesn’t like our dog but secretly loves her; my sister has the strongest Dutch gene of us all, stopping at nothing to earn or save a cent; my brother-in-law studies for med-school with loud music in his headphones; and I usually watch election night coverage alone because I yell at the TV too much.
What would people be surprised to know about you? I don’t like to be wet.
What is your favorite thing to do? Besides watching Fox News, I love to ski and get active during the winter.
What is your current favorite passage of Scripture? Proverbs 2:6 – For the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
What’s your favorite movie and why? Either Count of Monte Cristo or Red Eye… Count of Monte Cristo because its dramatic, dark, heroic, twisted and classic. Red Eye because its short, engaging, raises the blood pressure and allows me to hope for good to prevail.

Why are you passionate about what you do? I love encouraging and helping the missionaries.
Tell me a bit about your family: My husband’s name is Dick. We have four kids, two married…James & Vinae with grandson, Gibson…and Heather and Ryan. We also have two boys at home, Andy and Chris who will both be graduating from college next spring – Hallelujah!
What would people be surprised to know about you? I love the rain and I hate earthquakes!
What is your favorite thing to do? Crocheting, playing card games, camping, baking.
What is your current favorite passage of Scripture? I Thessalonians 5:16 – 18 - “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”

Jane Alber – Office Assistant
Why are you passionate about what you do? My job is pretty behind-the-scenes, but I feel that’s where God has put me. I love hearing the God Stories and hearing about how God has changed lives.
Tell me a bit about your family: We have four kids (one passed away this year and is in the presence of the Lord)…two girls and two boys. I’m a proud grandparent of two grandsons and one granddaughter.
What would people be surprised to know about you? I loved doing gymnastics in High School and Jr College.
What is your favorite thing to do? I like to crochet and play with my grandchildren.
What is your current favorite passage of Scripture? Eph. 4:32 - Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Marsha Wilson – San Gabriel Valley Teen Moms
Why are you passionate about what you do? It is God that gives life and I get to experience new life be birthed physically, as well as, spiritually in the lives of pregnant and parenting teens. As the Area Director of TLC Teen Moms & Dads, I offer pregnant and parenting teens a support system that provides the necessary tools, resources, and opportunities that communicate in every way a life of prosperity and good success.
Tell me a bit about your family: My family consists of 1 son (Matthew); 4 girls (Amber, Mahogany, Jasmyn & Esther (daughter-in-law); and 4 grandchildren; 1 granddaughter (Nikkia) and 3 grandsons (Nicholas, Branden, & Nathanel). We are originally from the east coast (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). Since being here on the west coast for over 20 years without extended family we are growing up together. We are close, adventurous, loving, hospitable, considerate, respectful, full of fun, creative, educated, hard working, determined, supportive, structured and diverse. Even though my family has increased in the 20 plus years, and our various schedules are conflicting, we take time out once a month for family fellowship.
What would people be surprised to know about you? I had the unforgettable opportunity to live in Izmir, Turkey for 3 years.
What is your favorite thing to do? There are so many…traveling, bowling, reading, meeting new people, puzzles, shopping for clothes, swimming, spending time with family.
What is your current favorite passage of Scripture? These are a few…Philippians 4:13; John 3:16; Psalm 23; Psalm 91; Philippians 3:13-14
What’s your favorite movie and why? The Color Purple…it is one of the few movies that was able to illustrate the beauty of love and forgiveness that can come out of hurt and pain due to abuse and racism.
